When two powerhouses come together to develop a new business curriculum
the results are usually spectacular. And this was no exception.
GE Capital and University of Connecticut formed a partnership,
called Edgelab, in the fall of 2000. University faculty and students
work jointly with GE Capital executives to research emerging technologies
such as biometrics, digital signature and voice recognition to develop
real e-business solutions.
CPG designed Edgelab, an 11,000 sprawling facility to stimulate
creative sharing of ideas. The training classroom was a 50' curved
movable wall easily handles groups of various sizes in a number
of furniture configurations. The center is designed with the latest
in video technology connecting to GE Capital offices and other UCONN
facilities.
The center is so successful the CPG has already started planning
Phase II expanding open area workstations, labs, and additional
training facilities.
